I’ve decided to start a blog following my journey into the world of drift car racing and all that comes with it. I chose to drift Nissan 300zx’s for various reason (which I will get into later) but mainly because they are one of my favourite cars. I’m fairly new to the drifting scene but certainly not to the mechanical side of things. I do all my own work on my drift cars and I will documenting it so that it might help someone when they work on their car. The Nissan 300zx (twin turbo) is a very powerful car but there is little to no room in the engine bay. This makes quick repairs very difficult and being a race car it’s important that I simplify the design to suit my needs all while ensuring I get the most power from it.
My Cars –
I currently have two drift cars (but 5 300zx’s currently).
The first is a silver twin turbo Z32 2+2 that hasn’t had a lot of mechanical modifications done to it. That being said, it still has atleast 400hp. The interior has been fully stripped out only leaving the seats and top part of dash in the car. Many deletes have been performed such as egr, AIV, Carbon canister and rear hicas to simplify things and also to remove unnecessary weight .
The second is a slick top Z32 fairlady 2+0 that I have rebuilt completely. I have considerably modified this car to suit my needs on the track. I’m only a few weeks away from finally starting it up again after many months of hard work rebuilding it. It will be vinyl wrapped, tuned and given a run on a Dyno as soon as I’m done putting it back together so I’m very excited about that. I’m hoping that this will have 500+hp output to begin with.
I’ve had to do so many things to my cars – mechanically that I have videoed or documented it so others may use as a reference. These cars can be a nightmare to work on and it’s always good to ask for help if unsure.
I’m always happy to give advice to anyone who wants it so just let me know if you have any questions.
